Chamberlain Coffee: Changing the Way We Brew
WHO IS EMMA CHAMBERLAIN?
My point is that Emma Chamberlain may be the reason I have become addicted to coffee and I’m not mad about it.
ABOUT CHAMBERLAIN COFFEE
In December 2019, Chamberlain, very fitting to her brand, announced the launch of her very own coffee company: Chamberlain Coffee. In an interview, Chamberlain said, “My love for coffee started when I was maybe 10. I used to go to coffee shops with my mom and get, literally, a latte that was just a bunch of foam and that was it. I was also going to cafés throughout my childhood with my dad, and it was just such a great memory. Then in high school, I was using coffee to keep me up so I could do my homework so it's just been there forever.”
When her team approached her with the idea for her own coffee line, she was immediately onboard and full of passion for the project. After the initial, and very successful, launch, Chamberlain was not fully content with the results.
“It was just us figuring out if it works and gauging what everyone likes. We put a lot of time into the product itself and in making that perfect and a lot less time into the branding and the aesthetic of the brand. We realized down the line that there was a lack of personality in the brand,” Chamberlain explained in an interview. Since then, Chamberlain has spent a lot more time creating a brand personality she is proud of.
Having been a vegetarian her whole life, Chamberlain has a deep care for taking care of the Earth and being conscious of her carbon footprint. So naturally, all of the packagings for Chamberlain Coffee is compostable. The coffee itself is unique, in that the grounds are contained in a satchel, similar to that of your typical tea bag, making the process of brewing easy and accessible.
Currently, Chamberlain offers five different blends on her website. Not sure which blend is right for you? That’s okay! Chamberlain is one step ahead of you, offering a quiz to find the roast perfect for your preferences.
MY REVIEW ON CHAMBERLAIN COFFEE
I recently got my hands on a pack of her Original Family Blend - the original blend included in the first launch - and let me tell you: DELICIOUS. I usually am not a fan of medium to darker roasts because I feel most taste terribly acidic, but this Original Family Blend (a medium roast) is making me want ten more cups. The flavor profile is rich and strong, with notes of sweet chocolate. Chamberlain describes it as “biting into a chocolate-covered cherry.” I strongly believe that if you think you are not a fan of plain, black coffee, that Chamberlain Coffee will change your mind in an instant. If black coffee still isn’t your thing, I think a caramel flavor, and maybe a splash of almond milk could step up this joe.
The process to brew was incredibly easy. For hot coffee, you brew exactly how you would a pack of tea, steeping the coffee bag in hot water for about 5 minutes, or longer depending on how much you need to wake up.
But it doesn’t stop with hot coffee, steep the bag in cold water for 12-24 hours, and now you have your very own cold brew! Personally, I was too excited to try it out for the first time so I couldn’t wait that long, but I have no doubt a cold brew version of this coffee would be amazing too.
Chamberlain did a great job of putting her passion into her product, clear from the images of her being physically present during the process of roasting.
From this (far from an expert) barista, I would strongly recommend Chamberlain Coffee if you enjoy sweeter flavor profiles, don’t want to worry about the hassle of a brewing machine, and want to become more environmentally conscious.
10/10.
